must do questions chapter 10

Why does Homer insist on going on with the plans after Corrie's house blows up? How does he convince Corrie that this is a good idea?
Homer should tell Corrie that this was a good idea because the soldier now thinks that Homer and his group have died and the soldiers won't go looking for them anymore.

Describe the strategy Homer and Ellie use to ensure their safety when riding their bikes into town. What does this show about how they are starting to think?
Homer rides up to Ellie to ride two abreast and holds hands with her. Then Homer stays 100-200 meters behind Ellie and she'd stop at every corner to check and then signal. This shows that they are starting to think like soldiers, like what Homer said before.

Why do you think Mr. Clement is reluctant to help Lee and Robyn? How would you react in his position?
Because he doesn't trust them or anyone, and he does not want to get caught by soldiers.

How has Homer changed in Ellie's eyes since the invasion?
He has become more mature, smarter, braver, smarter, and more of a series leader.

What are the two different types of soldiers and how do they each treat the inhabitants of Wirraweee?
One type was very well trained and professional soldiers and they treat people better. The other type of soldiers were just people to make up the numbers and treated people badly.

Why do you think Robyn had the strength to carry Lee?
I think because that's the only way for him to survive, other than leaving him there to die.

How have the group decided to rescue Lee, whose idea was this and why do they think it will work.
They'd decide to use one of the truck form the . Robyn will go back to the restaurant and gets Lee ready, gets him close to the street, while Ellie and Homer burn down the street, stop, and throw Lee and Robyn in the truck, then go to Hell.  It is Homer & Ellie's idea.

What do you think happened to people who 'tried to be like heroes?'
the solders probably captured them or they are dead

must do questions chapter 9

Why, in Ellie's opinion, is Cobbler's Bay and Wirrawee so important to the invaders?
I think in her opinion. Cobbler's Bay and Wirrawee are some of the biggest and safest places in Australia.

Corrie and Ellie reminisce about how innocent they were in high school and even a few days ago. Why were they still innocent then? Why are they no longer innocent?
Because then, the felt safer, but now they realise that they re no longer safe but in danger.

Why does Homer think splitting up is a good idea?
Maybe so that one of them could be in danger but not others.

Why do you think the author added the few lines about an Australian jet flying overhead.
Probably cause its excited for them to see how many Australian jets survives.

By blowing up Corrie's house, what does the invading force demonstrate to the teenagers?
That this isn't a game. This is the reality now, no more playing outside, no more shopping, no more anything. And that They will take over what was theirs.

Why do you think Corrie reacted the way she did?
Corrie just saw her house explode in front of her.and she would cry out of shock.

must do questions chapter 7

Which people in the group are starting to stand out as leaders, is this surprising? Why/Why not?
Ellie & Homer. To me, it's not surprising if Ellie is a leader because she sounds and acts like an adult, but it is surprising to me that Homer is the leader because he is more of a goofy person and a bit of a non-serious.

Do you think that taking Kevin's dog Flip to Corrie's house was a bad mistake? Explain your thoughts.
I think it's not a mistake because Animals deserve to be treated with love and it is not loving if you leave an innocent animal behind to die. But I think it will make you more worry even more if you bring the dog with you even when you're trying to be quiet and hope that the dog doesn't bark to give you away

What does Lee mean when he says 'We have to make some ugly choices?'
Maybe because their running out of time and realizing that they have to leave some things important behind.

How is Ellie's image of Kevin changing in this Chapter?
Ellie is beginning to see Kevin as more of a  mature and a nicer person

Is the decision to split into smaller groups a wise one? Give reasons.
To me, I think it is a good idea so that it would be faster to finish what they want to accomplish, but I wouldn't split with my group cause I'd be worried if the others will end up in trouble.

Why is it that Elie's group decides to act 'illogical' and survey the showgrounds together?
Ellie thinks it is a good idea to be together so that they'll be less worried to think that someone will get hurt.

Why does the idea of a female soldier surprise Ellie?
She is surprised because maybe she thinks that to be a solder you have to be a male and that she is used to seeing soldiers as male than females.
If your parents were captured in a situation like this, they have been 'sensible', or would there have been violence?
Bro! I think if my Parents would be in a situation like this... Ha! I have a feeling they would be sensible, But Naaaaahhh, they'd probably just finish this with violence ayye.

How is Ellie 'transformed' once she steps out from behind a tree near the Showgrounds?
When Ellie and her friends were behind the tree, she was really happy that she could hide all of them and get away from the trouble. As soon as she steps away from the tree while something is happening, she starts to panic and starts to worry.

Ellie and Kevin's quick-thinking allowed them to turn a ride-on lawnmower into a bomb. Was this moral behaviour? Did they do the right thing, or should they surrender themselves?
I don't think this was a good idea. This is because they didn't know why the soldiers were there but they just assumed that they were bad. I think What they could have done better was to figure out what exactly are the soldiers are doing there and to at least protect the people of Wirrawee.

Predict what you think is gonna happen to Lee and Robyn.
I think that maybe they've gone lost or get caught up into something really terrible.

must do questions chapter 8

How does Ellie feel after the lawn mower incident?
After what happened with the lawn mower incident she realizes that she made a bad decision after killing the soldiers so she is starting to regret it

How does she think the others will react to her story when she tells it?

maybe  shocked.

How do they actually react? Why?
I don't know ? it really depends on who they is

Homer says, "This is war now, normal rules don't apply now... there the ones who tore up the rule book, not us". What does this say about Homer's character? What do you think of the validity of his opinions?
It says that he is a strong person and that he doesn't blame anyone innocent because they all have to do some sacrifices and some strange things to survive.

Fi talks about the 'shadows', during their reconnaissance. What are these shadows and what are the implications due to their existence?
The shadows were people, but in Fi's eyes she couldn't see them fully enough so she called them the 'Shadows'.

What pieces of evidence from the book inform the reader that this invasion wasn't entirely peaceful?
I think its the fact how the soldiers treat people and how you can see and hear such horrible things. Plus there was a lot of places that had been destroyed.

must do questions

Must Do Questions: Do you think the way they handled the snake incident was appropriate? What could they have done differently? I think they could have handled it way better they could of not worried as much

Ellie claims that ‘Hell’ is only a label and that people label things all the time, often ignoring or overlooking certain labelled places or things. She then comes to the conclusion that ‘Hell was people’. Is she right? What’s your opinion, on labelling and Hell? I think that hell can be all kinds of things and that it is called hell because it just looks like hell

What was especially peculiar about the planes that flew over Hell? ‘Their ------, their ------, their----- frightened me.’ Do these characteristics have any significance? The planes all had their lights out and there were a lot of them they think that they are war planes and they are going to attack Wirrawee

Corrie and Kevin are the only couple in the group, but the trip was bound to bring friends closer. So why does Homer’s interest in Fi seem so odd to Ellie?

Fi brushes off the planes coming back from Commemoration Day. Why do you think the planes were flying over Wirrawee? they were coming back from commemoration day

Robyn claims there were dozens and dozens of planes flying over them. What is Lee’s response? Is his suggestion resonable?
